1. ELEMENTS OF A TVRO SYSTEM

A television receive only earth station (TVRO) comprises the following:

antenna
mount
feed
low noise amplifier and converter (LNC)
indoor unit (IDU) which is often also called an Integrated Receiver Decoder (IRD)

In the following sections design and performance issues of each of these elements will be considered.
