Regulation 2017, specifically under Section 300, which defines
the use of mobile phones while driving.
<div dir="auto">In the ACT (and most Australian states), the
legal definition of a "mobile phone" specifically excludes a
CB radio or any other two-way radio. Because they are not
classified as mobile phones, the strict "no-touch" and
mounting laws for phones do not apply to your radio
microphone in the same way. </div>
<div dir="auto">However, Section 297 of the same regulation
requires you to have proper control of your vehicle at all
times. If using the microphone causes you to swerve or
drives distractedly, you can still be fined for "not having
proper control."</div>
