FoxHunt -- VK1 Fox Hunt ARDF information list

About FoxHunt
English (USA)

Amateur Radio Direction Finding (ARDF) is sometimes known as radio sport, but we prefer to call it Fox Hunting. This list serves as an information server for Fox Hunting in the ACT. Fox Hunting involves teams of people with radio direction finding equipment (The Hounds) searching for a hidden radio transmitter (The Fox).

In the ACT we are currently running a series of weekly hunts during the Summer daylight savings period. This year the hunts will commence in Civic in the carpark adjacent to the Griffin Centre where VK1 WIA meetings are held. They will be held on Thursday nights and the start time is 6:30 PM sharp. The fox's transmit simplex on the 2M band frequencies of 146.200 MHz and 146.500 MHz. Voice liason for the hunts is usually via the Black Hill 2M repeater on 146.900 MHz.

To find the fox the hounds use portable radio receivers, directional antennas, attenuators and close range detectors called sniffers. Spare equipment is usually available for loan at the start of the hunts or you can team up with someone else.
