Obviously, it in someway makes use of the " operator j " principle
wherein normal losses are simply changed in sign to become minus losses.
Since a loss is a negative sign then by applying the " -j " factor the
loss becomes a minus loss and we all know that a minus minus is in fact
a plus. The device has gain, limited of course by some intrinsic losses.

  
Hmmmmmm.
